Collins Center Regional Historical Society is once again promoting our education through entertainment program by hosting the 6th Annual Car Show & Picnic. This event also supports our efforts towards community; although more recently our community (of classic car lovers) has expanded to include those a two-hour drive from the rural hamlet of Collins Center. While some may think that classic cars could only push 40 mph; we accept all vehicles including the muscle cars and the modern classic (they can definitely travel faster than 40 mph!)

Bring the family! We offer affordable lunch alternatives; a playground and kids get to vote for the kids choice award! (One lucky boy & girl will have the opportunity to win a prize for their participation.)

Our popular DJ spins the classics. Trivia is played throughout the event for prizes and the favorite basket raffle supports this event which is free) First 100 registered drivers receive a free Goody Bag. Trophies awarded for 1st - 4th place and Kids Choice.

So join us for some fun; because education does not have to be boring!

    Trophies 1st – 4th Place and Kid’s Choice!

Apples aren’t the only thing with variety and spice!  We’re certain you’ll find a wide variety of activities for the whole family at YMCA Camp Sherwin’s 8th Annual Apple Fest.  Celebrate apples and fall with family themed activities for all ages.

Admission: FREE.  Some activities have a small fee.

    Concessions available for purchase.
    Open to the public.

Like juicy fall apples, there’s a variety of activities to keep the kiddos smiling.  First it’s a wagon ride around camp and a visit with favorite farm animals and pumpkin decorating, then off to bounce in one of our bounce houses and donut eating contest.  Not ready to go home?  Kids will get a chuckle from Paprika the Clown, Magic Steve and Captain Magic. They can even get their hands dirty and sling an apple into our pond!  Taste sweet apple treats including home made dumplings and cider.

Parents – you’ll enjoy entertainment from local musicians, performance troops and wood carver Brian Spraque.  There’s a cake and wine walk too!  Chances to win great raffle items in the Main Hall.

  • We are walking and working towards a cure because on March 29, 2017, at the age of 20, Sonata "Sonny" Belle Greishaw lost an almost 18 month battle with Acute Myloid Leukemia 6.  She endured many rounds of chemotherapy, participated in clinical trials, and was blessed to have a bone marrow transplant in May 2016. Her case was one that makes standard treatment options very tricky because she had a gene mutation, referred to as FLT3, that protected the leukemia cells in her blood and made her resistant to chemotherapy. She was honored to be able to receive some of the world's best treatment through Emory University Hospital; a research based teaching hospital located in Atlanta, GA. (Thank you 6E nurses especially.)

Sonny was an amazing and vibrant young woman with a servant's heart.  True to her character, she did not let her diagnosis stop her by any means.  She continued to be a positive beacon of strength and took her situation as an opportunity to help others.  Not only did she support other patients by donating gifts, time, money and her very own hair; she helped to organize two teams to participate in the 2016 Light the Night Walk Events; one in Erie,PA and one in Atlanta, GA.

We are asking you to please consider being a corporate/personal sponsor for the 2018 Light the Night Walk in Erie, PA and/or to join our team. We have all been touched by cancer of some form. No kind is easier to deal with than the next, but Sonny's treatment and ability to participate in clinical trials are examples of the importance of dedicated research teams to help cultivate individual treatments that work.

LLS could not fund the research of such treatments like Sonny's and others like targeted therapies that zero in on cancer cells and kill them or immunotherapy drugs that use a patient's own immune system to kill cancer. Please join our team's effort today by registering to walk or by making a donation. Your participation in the Light The Night Walk will save lives not someday, but today. Without your time and generosity blood cancer will continue to have the upper hand.  Together we can make a difference and show cancer that WE are in control!!

Thank you for bringing us all closer to living in a world without blood cancers!  Please contact Kara Onorato, team captain and Sonny's mother, at (814) 602-5297 for corporate sponsorship details, for an address to mail a donation by check made payable to LLS, or to answer any other questions.
